Amateur radio, with passion.
DM2TIM is my amateur radio callsign. It carries my two sons' names - Mike and Tim. What once began on CB radio has long grown into a hobby across many bands: from shortwave up into the UHF range, in voice as well as digital modes.

Core War
Not everything here is about radio. Core War is a programming game from 1984: two programs are loaded at random positions into the same memory and try to overwrite each other. Explained here from the ground up - with measured numbers instead of received wisdom.
From CB to amateur radio
Roots on 27 MHz
Like many radio amateurs, it all started with CB radio - and the fascination with radio stayed.
- Started on CB radio. The way in via the 11-metre band (27 MHz) - the first enthusiasm for radio and for propagation.
- Shortwave in SSB. Operating mostly single-sideband - local and DX, depending on band conditions.
- PSK31 as a digital mode. Narrow-band digital work on shortwave - plenty of reach with little power.
- 2 m and 70 cm in FM. Local operating via simplex and repeaters.
- C4FM / digital. Digital voice on VHF/UHF for clear, low-noise contacts.
